Legal Question in Family Law in India

I want to know regarding the Indian or Hindi marriage act.

I have a friend who is wanting to marry a man who is already married. The first marriage of this man is not a registered marriage. He was married the indu way according to Vedic rights.

The gentelman is question is wanting to marry the second lady by getting the marriage registered in court. Is this legal? Will his first wife come to know abt the registration of marriage in court? What if she come to know?

If this registration is not legal then what are the ways by which the second woman can get a legal status in society.

We are from India.

The second marriage is not permissible and legal without dissolution of first marriage by court of law. If he marries again during survival of his first marriage, there may be possibility of his criminal prosecution and possible jail term.

the second marriage is null and void when first marriage is existing. if his wife comes to know she can filed complaint for bigamy under IPC and he may be jailed.
