Legal Question in Family Law in India
My Inlaws are threatning me
Dear Sir
I am a post graduate (MBA) who got married in November 2002, it was a love marriage forcibly arranged, girl father was never ready but then he agreed half heartedly, my wife's mother had a suicide death which I never inquired about, my father in law has been trying to mentally change the thought frame of my wife, on 27 January this year she went back to her home and since then he has been harassing me and today they threatened me and my family that as the Indian law is towards the girl they are going to use that against me, the girl is under complete influence of her father and he is a alcoholic & a womanizer. What are my safeguards against this law of protecting just the girl? My father in law is a MES contractor in Srinagar and lives there alone and his two sons who are younger to my wife in jullandhar. Can they file a false FIR, or file a case against me, I never ever asked for anything from my in-laws and just married this girl for love. My fathers in laws INLAWS are also not on good terms with him. I will appreciate if you can please guide. Waiting for advice from you, I am based in chandigarh
Thanks

Re: My Inlaws are threatning me
you have not told whether you wife still wants to come to you if yes then file a writ of habious corpus in high court narrating all the circumstances or in the alternative you can also file a suit for restitution of conjugal rights in the district court.

It is a wrong assumption that indian laws are are in support of girl or woman. But there are laws in India to prevent social evils like dowry which is peculiar to India. It depends on the fact where your marriage has been solemnised.
