Legal Question in Family Law in India

Lifetime alimony

My wife had suicide attempt long back.

1. If alimony is being decided while I am unemployed, which salary slip will be taken into consideration or do I have to compulsorily declare all my fixed deposits?

2. If court asks me to pay say Rs 30 lakhs lifetime alimony based on my previous salary slip and I only have Rs 10 lakhs in bank deposit, how do I pay? Will my assets get attached?

3. How does the court arrive at a figure that is not more than the husband's earned assets? In foreign countries there is alimony calculator as fixed % of assets and thus ''gambling'' fear factor is removed while deciding alimony. The husband clearly knows what is at stake.

2. You may make payment by selling some of your assets; or you may pray for some time to make payment;

3. The courts have well devised formulas to calculate husband's liability towards maintenance based upon his financial standard, income, assets, living style etc.
