Limitation-Domestic Violence Act

Dear Sir,

1. What is the limitation for filing complaint under Domestic violence act, for an alleged offence?

2.Domestic Violence Act comes into effect w.e.f. 26 Oct. 2006. Does a offence committed prior to this date will attract provisions of this act?

(a) There is no limitation for invoking the provisions of DVA.

(b) All the offences are covered in the Act; One may invoke the provisions of Section 498-A IPC alongwith that of the DVA.

1) No limitation but desirable to file it sooner.

2)No where in the act it is mentioned that it can be retrospectively effective
