i have gone through your story and suggest that your son may file a petition for divorce on the grounds of cruelty and with time this problem may be sorted out.
Your son can file a petition for divorce by taking one or more grounds mentioned in the act. It would be a contesting divorce as his wife is not willing to give divorce but you start the proceedings or else if she files a complaint u/s 498A and 406ipc then the divorce proceedings would be an after thought. Your son should be careful in terms of her behaviour etc.
