Legal Question in Family Law in India
My marriage was love cum arranged marriage. But after marriage my husband started torturing me mentally and physically for money. I made every possible effort to make things work but finally I was kicked out and I have been living with my widow mother for almost 3 years. He still threatens me to come back with cash and to live with him. He says he wont let me live my life normally if I dont go back to him. I am scared to go out. I wanted to file a FIR but police people said that if you have any wounds or something only then we can file a FIR. That means if I am hurt or killed then they will do something about it. They just accepted one application today and said we will be called in 3 days or just come to the police station after 3 days yourself. My marriage was not registered. I dont want to live with him at all. I want all the istridhan back too if possible. What would be the right procedure to go about it?

it is advised that you may file a complaint under domestic violence act and in that you can claim all your reliefs viz. residence, maintenance, compensation etc.... you may get in touch with the lawyer.
