I married a girl in 2008. But four months back only, I know she already did a registered marriage. But her father says now that he already intimated to me and my family members about the first marriage in police station and court dramatically. He has got a null and void certificate in first marriage within a month after the first marriage in family court. I did not know anything about this during my marriage. Her father hides this first marriage. Now she has filed dowry case for me and my 9 family members. But she had taken her jewels and she had written a ordinary acknowledgment letter to me. But she now refused the letter and i threatened her to write the acknowledgment letter regarding jewels and she had just written her signature only. And she is asking maintenance to me also. How I prove myself. She has misused the dowry and maintenance laws. She is asking that If I give 10 lakhs, she will leave from me. First I only gave petition to police regarding the first marriage forgery. She also went from me 10 months back. After my petition only, she filed the dowry case. The police did not take any action regarding my first petition. I and my family members now only canceled the conditional bail. I filed divorce case before her petition. I am in Tamilnadu. My lawyer refused to break the dowry case using Quashing law. I put a petition to join the maintenance case and divorce case. Kindly also let me know this is useful to me. I am really vexed about my situation. Please tell me a correct solution regarding this with any lawyer email id.

in case you can prove that she was already married and married you without obtaining divorce, you may approach the high court for quashing of the f.i.r. on this ground alone.
