i got married recently . iam a resident of chennai . but got married in salem . i need to register my marriage in my place of residence i.e chennai in my locality sub registar office. but when i contacted sub registar office in my locality they said i have to go to marriage held place salem for registering marriage. according to tnreginet website one can regsiter in their residence jurisdiction . therefore i would like to know whether i can register my marriage in my area sub registar office or not ? if yes they are not doing , so what i should do ?

You have to register your marriage at Salem only. The procedure is that marriage has to be registered where the marriage has taken place.
