mother is not interested in keeping the minor child with her and she wants the father of the child to take the custody of the child, is it possible as per indian law?

Yes . In your case when mother refuses to take the custody of her child then it automatically comes to you.

father is the natural guardian and in case she is giving up custody, the father has a preferential right over anyone else.
