Legal Question in Family Law in India
Mother-in-law filed false complaint against me
my husband is demanding for a divorce and for the last year has not sent me any money. i live alone in his house with my daughter (not his, this is my daughter by a previous marriage), this was a second marriage for both of us. he has a son by a previous marriage. he is an american citizen and he left to US and then from there is asking for a divorce.
his mother has today sent the police to the house after she filed a complaint against me saying that i am bringing men into the house etc which is utterly false, nobody has been allowed into the house unless there was girl with them too like a married couple, or my pastor and his wife. she has also said in her complaint that i am staying in her house and that she wants me to leave.
what should i do now? i had my pastor come and talk to the police and they left for now, but they said they would investigate the whole matter. i had prior to this filed a case in the women's police station against my husband and mother-in-law and asked for protection. should i give a copy of that to the cops? i am very shaken by this, what are my rights? how can i prove my innocence?

You can stay there according to Domestic Violence Acts and can clim maintenance.

Yes, you may supply a copy of your previous complaint to the police.
You are entitled to live in the house and also demand maintenance from your husband.
