If there is a Fixed Depost on my parents name and I (their son) is the nominee would this come to me incase of their death.

Re: Nominee

You both will inherit equally.

The nominee is like a trustee just to operate the bank account in the event that the account holder becomes incapable because of death or other disability.

The nominee is duty bound to disclose to all the legal heirs whatever is received by him.

In case decided by the Supreme Court of India, the nominee (a son) received "death claim benefits" from LIC in the event of his father's death, the court directed that all the legal heirs had an equal share; the nominee does not enjoy a superior claim; and that he is required to retain his share and distribute the remaining amount to other legal heirs.

In you rcase, your sister may be entitled to half the money out of FDR.

Nominee is just like a custidion but not the absolute ownerand so you are a custodian but not the sole owner.
