Legal Question in Family Law in India
I have petitioned for mutual consent divorce under Section 13B of Hindu Marriage Act. The date for appearance before honourable Judge has been set in January 2013. Due to official work, I might have to be outside India in January, 2013.
Is there anything I can do to postpone the final appearance date and schedule it some other month?

Yes you can move an application to the concern court ,requesting for an adjournment on the grounds you have mentioned here in above and i am sure the court will adjourn your matter.
you can appear within 18 months from the date your statement under 13(B) (1 )was recorded during the first motion. you can co ordinate with your spouse and decide a date mutual for filing the petition for second motion. you may visit www.karvai.in for further guidance.
you can apply for adjournment on the date thru your lawyer.
