Legal Question in Family Law in India

what should i do? pls advise.

My husband is asking for a divorce and after trying everything to change his mind, i have now agreed. he has also agreed to a small settlement amount which is way too less but for want of peace in my life, i have agreed to that also, but he is now still creating problems and he and his relatives are giving me mental torture and are not allowing me to be in the house etc and are trying to evict me. i have said that i will leave once the case is finished.

the amount he has agreed to give as a one time settlement is Rs. 10L. he is a US citizen and is a software consultant there earning very high. i have no job and no parents.

i live in India. he has now come down to india and wants to finish this. he has already got a divorce in America without my signature.

should i agree to this and finish it or would i be wiser going to the court etc, as they are even now harrassing me even after i have agreed to all their terms.

pls. advice me

The divorce obtained by him in USA may have no legal value in India. On the other hand, you may use that divorce as the basis of a complaint of "fraud" which you may lodge against him.

Since he is in India, it may better for you to secure his arrest u/s 498-A IPC and D.V.A. and seek impounding of his passport.

They have no right to cheat you or harass you or commit any cruelty/violence. The law is on your side. You may approach the police immediately.
