Legal Question in Family Law in India

pls. do help me. i am desperate.

i am living in a my husband's mother's house (though my husband paid for it, it is just in her name for tax purposes). he is asking for a divorce. i live alone in the house. i need to know if i can sell off the furniture etc as money has become a big problem right now. i know i can ask for maintenence etc, but that will take time and i need money right now for bare essentials. he had bought these things before the wedding. can i sell? can he file a case against me if i do sell it? pls. tell me in clear terms if i can sell or not.

Thanks.

You have a lien on 'his' assets; and you are entitled to sell anything you like to maintain yourself. In fact you are the co-owner and entitled to behave like an owner. Therefore, you should not hesitate to meet your expenses by selling whatever is in your possession.
