is there anyway to put the claim

The problem we are looking for help is a divorce issue. My parents were married 21yrs ago but about 3 mnths ago we discovered my mom was having an extra marital affair.After this she said she wants divorce from my dad to marry that guy. They are a very well to do family & we being an upper middle class family.Now some people from there family has approached us saying that if dad agrees for a mutual divorce without dragging the matter for long in the court then they are ready to pay a big sum of money.Now since we see no comprimise possible so we see this to be a good option. My dad is an engineer in the PWD where corruptions & vigilance raids are feared . Now our lawyer is saying that for a working man there is no provisions in the law in which he can legally show this money as money he has got from divorce ..it cannot be shown as a gift as that can raise a lots of IT dept questions as there family is also involved in PWD contracts etc ...or it will be an under table deal only.

Can you please suggest us how we should proceed

dear sir,

it is advisable to go for divorce by mutual consent and in that case it can be shown that your mother had paid the agreed ammount as compensation towards maintance of children etc.and lieu of divorce and in that case the taxation/other problem problem can be avoided.
