Re: question on child expenses

(1) The father may seek custody of the child or visitation rights, depending upon age/consent of the child. The matter will be decided by the court keeping in view welfare of the child.

(2) The father should keep paying a 'reasonable amount' for maintenance of the child. The amount may depend upon age of the child, the place the child is living and the social status of the parties. For a normal middle class family, a sum of Rs.10,000/- p.m. may be sufficient.

You may file a petition for permanent custody and an application for visitation rights to see your child. The court would see the welfare of the child for permanent custody. However, visitation can certainly be not denied to you.
