we are hindus,vysya community
we are four sisters and brother. we all married and working in different government offices with respectful family
my brother's wife unnecessairly without any information left the house of my mother before 16 and half years ago. She got married in the year April 1992 and stayed with husband for a period of
3 to 4 months and blessed with daughter whose age is now 16 years. All these years she is with
her relatives by doing some private teacher job. She is arrogant, saddist, cannot mingle with the
family members. Now she went to court and demanding for justice of maintenance for her livelyhood.In addition to this, she is threatening the sisters of her husband that with a warn of
harassment case. Please clarify and advise us in this regard.

she has all the rights to demand the maintenance from her husband for herself and her girl child. better settle the matter out of court and start paying her the dues and this way you may save yourself the hassles of court cases. as she is married to your brother, her right to demand livelihood is justifiablen and as the daughter is of your brother, he is duty bound to maintain her.
It may be better to provide her alimony and enter into an out of court settlement. however, if she has filed a court case, you will need to conduct the case through a lawyer.
