Legal Question in Family Law in India

I am a SC Hindu and my wife is BC Christian. We both are continuing our faith. During the school admission I have given SC Hindu for my Children as I was told by the school authorities that we have to use fathers Caste and Religion.

Is it correct ?

Or Can I put/change BC Christian for my children.

If my children want to convert/change theri religion when it is possible.

I do not want to change my religion.

Please advise.

the way things are going, its fine. even if children want to convert later, the changes can be informed to school authorities.
