Yes, you may file a complaint with the local police for your safety. But they may not keep your complaint 'secret' because they may need to take action. However, you may secretly meet the 'woman officer' of the police station who may be heading the 'Crime Against Women Cell' if there is any such Cell in your area police station.

You have many remedies to avail, but have to make up your mind as to what u want the ultimate result, you want divorce, or u want to live with your husband separate from the joint family, or want to keep marriage alive and still live separately from your husband.
