Legal Question in Family Law in India

Settlement deed charges

Hi,

I am currently residing in Bangalore. My father and brother jointly purchased a property,Now as a part of settlement my father and brother want to transfer the entire property in my name. Can u tell me the most economical way of doing this.

Someone advised me to go in for a settlement deed as the charges are very low.For a fact if the settlement is done in family on the stamp duty charges up to 10000 and registration up to Rs 2000 will be charged.

Is the above statement true or will there be a difference in charges for the portion transferred by my brother and father

Re: Settlement deed charges

You have been correctly advised. You may go ahead with a 'family settlement' and get the same registered. For stamp duty and charges etc., you may better contact the local tehsil office.
