Legal Question in Family Law in India
Hello Sir, I am a South Indian Brahmin girl married to a Jat Sikh boy. After our daughter was born, we declared our girl as Hindu Brahmin. Will we face any legal complications? My daughter has been carrying my maternal surname. Appreciate your kind reply

after the ruling of SC, there is no legal hurdle if the child uses his maternal surname. you may relax.
In case parents are following separate religions, the children are entitled to be raised in any of the two religions. There are no legal requirements in the matter of surnames.
There is nothing illegal about this but only the acceptance of the society. You don't worry about it. Your child can be Hindu Brahmin and courts does not interfere in such things unless and until some problem or cause of action arises.
