Legal Question in Family Law in India

My sister had been beaten by her in laws, Boy has proven guilty by lower court & given punishment of 2 Yrs. in 498 A, 1 Yr in 406.

Session Court has given 1 Year probation, as boy does not have any criminal background, his character will change if he remains with hard core criminals.

Please advise What should be my course of action?
