Legal Question in Family Law in India
My sister is getting married soon.this is her 2nd marriage. Her 1st marriage ended in a divorce. Her jewels gifted by inlaws & their relatives were never given to her as previous mother inlaw had kept them in her possession as a part of "custom".Even during divorce proceedings, they were never returned.
Now in her 2nd marriage,we want to be cautious.
mostly inlaws feel that the jewels given by them is their family property.they give it to the bride to wear only for special occassions after which they have to be returned to the mother inlaw.
so please suggest a way out as to how she can smartly keep all her jewels she gets from both sides with herself only, minus any tensions.

making an issue of jewelry at this stage may bring discord in the family. it is better if you concentrate more on the fact whether the match is right for her or not as she may not be able to bear the marriage breaking down for the second time. she may keep her jewelry with herself and you may let this issue be decided by her in consulation with her husband and in laws.
