Legal Question in Family Law in India

My sister is an unfortunate dowry victim and she was resued [with great difficulity] from her husband's house at Kerala through police protection and after FIR, she was brought to my home at New Mumbai. A divorce suit was filed at Family court, Thane through a local lawyer 5 years ago. The lawyer has collected a good sum in advance and lawyer informed that the defendent [my sister's husband] is not tracable and hence nothing can be done. Later we received a notice from lok adalat, thane that the case will be enquired some 6 months ago, when our lawyer told no need to worry and he will see the matter. Recently he is not available in his office and he met with some injury and hospitalised, He is giving only false assurances that no need to worry.
Please advice how can I teach him a lesson for his cheating and get right legal help?

you can engage a lawyer and ask the prior lawyer to give NOC. (Always engage a genuine lawyer after getting information about him.)
