Legal Question in Family Law in India

Urgent advise required. Mother-in-law and relatives causing trouble.
my husband and i are getting a divorce, which he is asking for. i have agreed to the divorce and the settlement amount has been decided too and we are now looking towards how he can deposit the money etc and when i sign. BTW, he lives in USA. i am in india, chennai. He actually cheated me by saying he would take me to america with him and then just left and is now asking for the divorce. His mother is here and has come over with 10 relatives and is making life very miserable for me. the house i am staying in is his house and i have said that i will leave it once the papers are signed. they have now come and are theatening me, abusing me, not allowing me to use the kitchen or the rest of the house, asking me to stay in one room with all my things and are generally making life very miserable. what can i do? legally what is my position? Thanks for the help.

if they are male realtives you can file a case under domestic violance act. you can also take an injunciton against these person so as to not to disturb you at the premises

in case you facing trouble for the basic necessities in life, you can move the court by filing a complaint under domestic violence act seeking order restraining your mother in law and other relatives from harassing you. you may defer the divorce for sometime so you get your legitimate rights without much hassles.

Good Morning!

I would advise you to file a case under Domestic Violence Act.

You should also file an injunction against the persons who are troubling you by restricting them not to disturb you at the premises in anyways.
