What is a valid legal marriage contract if conducted at the court? is a marriage contract registered at the sub registrars office valid or does it have to be done in a court?

There is nothing like a "legal marriage contract" in India. The marriage is instead ceremonised as per rites and ceremonies applicable to the parties. However, there may also be a "court marriage" or "civil marriage" as per the Special Marriage Act.

marriage contract is not legal in india. it can be a contract binding between the parties but the marriage is not legal.
