Legal Question in Family Law in India
My wife sent me divorce petition with allegations, My lawyer says let us first put Wakalatnama. Later decide what to do after ? Is my lawyer directing me correctly or should I give written statement. He says let first meet with opposite party and discuss and later will do accordingly afterwards. What should I do?

You can off course file a Written statement/reply on the first date itself, alongwith vakalatnama. In matrimonial matters, it is always better and it is also the endeavour of the court to bring out a conciliation between the spouses.
If you feel there is ray of hope to pursuade your wife to forget past differences (may be she filed for divorce under influence of someone and not voluntarily), you may explore that possibility first instead of replying in writing to her allegations which would normally involve character assassination beyond repair.
Lawyer is correct. Try to settle matter amicably if possible.
