my wife is filing for separation by mutual consent. However, I do not want to leave my wife, what do i do ?

a mutual consent petition for divorce cannot be filed unilaterally. the consent of both, the husband and wife has to be free. her filing a petition for mutual consent is of no consequence. she can file the petition for divorce on fault grounds. you may visit my website www.karvai.in to read more on the grounds of divorce and divorce by mutual consent.

I agree with Mr Gupta. Your wife alone cannot file for divorce by mutual consent. She may intend filing for divorce on grounds specified by law. Contest the divorce if you do not want to leave your wife.
