Legal Question in Family Law in India

will there be a conflict of interests??

i am fighting a divorce case with my husband who is an American citizen and i am an indian. he left me and went to USA saying he would get me over but then has applied for a divorce there and got a final decree from the US court. my lawyer here told me that it was invalid in india. i am living in his house right now. i want him to pay me a settlement as he has left me here to fend for myself and has not in anyway given me any monetory help till now. my lawyer now tells me that my husband has contacted her daughter, who is also a divorce lawyer and has engaged her as his lawyer. will there not be a conflict of interests here since mother and daughter are lawyers for opposing sides. my lawyer says it wil be easier as she can communicate more easily with her daughter as opposed to another lawyer, but i am worried that with his money, he might be able to get the better deal from them and also that the mother, my lawyer, may be more sympathetic and want her daughter, my husband's lawyer, to win. i am so confused. pls. do advise as to what i should do?

it is for you to decide if you want to continue with the same lawyer if you have doubts that your interest will not be protected you can change your lawyer by taking no objection and engaing another lawyer in case the matter is alerady filed in court

Lawyer can be changed at any time. It is upto you to decide keeping in view of your interest.

Re: will there be a conflict of interests??

It may be better for you to consider engaging another lawyer.

However, technically, there is no conflict of interests as two are independent lawyers.
