Legal Question in Civil Litigation in India

I am 28 years old female working in a private company. I had friends who used to take help from me by means of using my credentials and getting loans. I also sign for them to get the loans. In the same way one of my friend cheated my by not returning the funds. Now bank people are torturing me to pay the money back, where I am not from the well off family background. I 've 3 dependents where all I earn is spent for them. Please help me how to come out of this hectic situation legally. When I seek a lawer for help they are charging me more. I sincerely need a help at this point.
