Breach of Contract, regarding Marriage

Dear experts

Please help me in the following matter of breach of contract. It�s between me, an Indian resident from Kolkata, West Bengal and the family of the Girl an Indian resident from, Kuchaman City, Nagaur District, Rajasthan.

We met through one of the leading matrimonial site. My and her family verbally agreed for a marriage alliance on June 2007, and a date of December 2007 has been fixed by consent of both of the families. In the month of September 2007 her family requests me to postpone the date and with good faith I agreed. Since June 2007 the girl use to call me and often she cry over phone about some problem of her or about her family and seek monetary assistance from me by telling that she will return my money very soon. I was in intension to marry her and so I helped her family in several occasions by sending money to her from time to time. I used to deposit the money to her bank account; I kept all the counter part of the deposit slips. Till March 2008 I have deposited more than 1,00,000/- rupees in her bank account. Now they neither want to keep their commitment nor want to return my money and I feel like cheated.

Please tell me whether I can proceed legally, if so then what are the steps to be followed.
