Error in names
The birth certificate of my son has the name of parents spelt wrongly. muncipal authorities ask court order to correct the names of the parents, please advise how to proceed and how long will it take to get order

If it is just the spelling errors, you do not need any court order for that. All you need is to make an affidavit, get it attested from the first class magistrate and give it to the authorities concerned to do the corrections. Was it correctly spelled with the hospital record?

You may file application to concerned area of your Sub-divisional Magistrate(SDM)/Exsecutive Magistrate with your affidavit alongwith proof in this regard seeking order to the concerned office of Municiplityfor making the correction in their records. For further query you may contect me.

you have to file a C.Misc before the magistrate court making the corporation a respondent and seek for necessary direction it is not a very long procedure

firstly give a public notice in daily news paper the file case in SDM's court along with affidavit duly attested by Executive Magistrate.Take advise of an advocate.

Basically under the provisdions of the Mumbai Muncapalites Act there is power given to Magistrate to correct the defect.
Make an application before the magistrare and show him the provision and the power he has.
He will pass the order.
