Legal Question in Civil Litigation in India

sir, can a power of attorney depose on behalf of the plaintiff as the plaintiff is serious and not in a position to attend court , the suit involves wrong done by the state and based on official record only .i have gone through decision of supreme court reported in 1999 and 2005 on ord 3 rule 1&2 cpc so pls provide any case law of supreme court which says that the power of attorney can depose on behalf of principal .

If POA has personal knowledge he can give evidence. That knowledge can be even from reading of records.
