Legal Question in Civil Litigation in India
I stood as a guarantor for a personal loan taken by one of my friend on which he has defaulted. He is currently studying in US. The bank has gone ahead and liquidated my money in settlement to the outstanding loan amount. after repeated attempts to contact him, he is not responding. I am in the process of filing a suit against him for recovery of my funds.
What is the effect of a civil suit filed and a notice sent to the college\university where this guy is currently studying? Can they force him to oblige to this notice.
What are the other options available to me so that I can force him to oblige and mend his misdoings?

You may pursue your recovery suit. After you obtain a decree, you may seek attachment of his property as also his "civil detention" on non-payment of the decretal amount; at that stage, the college and/or US authorities may help you. They may even cancel his student status (F-1) in USA and he may be forced to return to India.
