Legal Question in Civil Litigation in India
My tenant has not paid his shop rent since 24 years, after my legal notice he is agree to pay it, but I want to get vacate my shop for my earning purpose, I am a retired person and I want to do my business. Should I accept this backlog rent or not?

Keeping a property vacant is utter foolishness. Unless you are seriously going to immediately start your own business from your shop; and being a retired person, it is going to generate revenue for you from day one, in my opinion, it is better to accept the entire backlog of rent for the shop, and agree with the tenant to the condition of a 10% increase in the rent year on year hereon.
