We live in bombay, and i recently quallified for a dependant visa, as i wish to live here, but remaine a canadian citizen. in a year ill apply for a PIO card. Im having a baby in 2 months, it will be born here, but i want it to have canadian citizenship, how do i go about this? also, my last name has not been legally changed to my husbands yet, as im not sure how to do this here. my passport is in my name. do i change my name here or do i have to do it in canada? if i can change it here..how do we go about doing this?

Re: canadian living in india
your child cannot become a candian citizen as he is going to be born here and his father is an indian citizen. you would remain a canadian citizen unless you go for dual citizenship or revoke ur canadian citizenship to become an indian citizen. you child would be getting canandian citizenship only after you apply for dual citizenship.
Re: canadian living in india
(a) You may keep the option of having Canadian citizenship for your baby but for that you may need to contact a Canadian Immigration Attorney or the Canadian High Commission in India.
(b) Your last name in your passport may be changed only by the Canadian authorities till you are holding a Canadian Passport. You may approach the High Commission for this purpose.
