ipr issues
RiceTec�, a Texas based corporation applied to register the trademark �texmati� in UK in respect of various types of food including rice. Bonafide believing that �texmati� to be deceptively similar to the term, �basmati� and its use in respect of a US made rice as an act of unfair trade competition, Indian government opposed the application. Decide the case with the help of relevant case law.
