Once an invention or patent is assigned to any body including close relative, the Assignor or the Inventor looses his title over the invention and patent. So, the Patent Act confers monoploy and exckusive rights to the Assignee, the fact being the Assignee's details have to be invariably furnished in the Patent application and copy of the Assignment Deed duly notarized should be filed with the concerned Patent office.

Hope you are clear.

Upon assignment the Inventor losses his rights, it can have no bearing - whether it is assigned to a relative or a third party.
