Cancellation of bar licence

Sir/ Madam,

I m law graduate from punjab university,chandigarh.When i was doing llb i m working with an co. after my law garduation i applied for BAr Council license and i obtained the same on 12-09-2008, but that time i m working with an co . and in application for bar membership i have not disclosed that i m working with an co. On 30-11-2008 i left the job and the company in which i was working had not given me my dues . NOw i want to get my dues from co. if i file a case against the case for recovery for dues in that case will my licence be cancelled on a/c of not disclosing the thing in the application that i was working with a co. If the co in which i worked aplly for cancellation of my licence ,can they do so.please tell me

Yes, there is every likelihood of cancellation of your licence. You should first rectify the mistake you have committed by meeting the Chairman of Bar Council and placing on record your affidavit about your employment and reasons why this fact could not be mentioned earlier in the application.

Well!! this is a case of misconduct and the company can approach the bar council for suspension of your membership. Therefore, it is advisable to settle the matter amicably.
