Legal Question in Employment Law in India

I was employed with an Pvt Ltd firm in Mumbai. Due to certain better prospects, i decided to quit. But since my notice period was 3 months and i wanted to get on-board my new organization asap. I told the management about my personal issues and that i wanted to get relieved immediately. The management though pulled a fast one on me. They communicated to me that i could go on and that the relieving formalities shall follow later. I handed over all the company assets back and left the organization. After two months, i received a mail from the HRD about the F&F Settlement. They quoted that since i had not served the notice, i had to pay 3 months salary and also claimed that they had found out certain wrong claims in my Travel Expense Vouchers. So the three month salary (3 Lk) plus the wrong claims (1.2 Lk) less my gratuity (1.2 Lk - as i have served the organization for over five and half years) ie 3 Lk is due to be paid to the company. Failure to do so will call for legal actions. Please advice on what to do. I am also not sure whether they will issue me the Form 16 for TDS from apl to nov that i have served them. I have still not responded to their mail. They have stated that if i do not respond back within 7 days, it will be assumed that i am accepting their claims. Swift response will be highly appreciated.

Do you have any written consent from the management regarding your relieving.

What was the agreement signed between you and the company at the time of appointment ?
