Employer keep in custody the educational certificate of the employee

If an employer takes custody of the highest education certificate of the employee as soon as he joins duty and not return the same, what are the legal provisions available for the employee to get the certificate back? What are the penal provisions available under the civil law to try the employer?

You may better make a demand from the employer; it may not call for any litigation; if the employer has lost the document, you may get a duplicate issued.
