Legal Question in Employment Law in India

Hi,

I had accepted a job offer from an organization during the month of September and had informed that I would be joining in month of November. However, Since I decided to pursue with a different opportunity, I informed the first company about my inability to join them as per my acceptance of the offer letter.

The issue is that the offer letter had a clause like this--------------- "In the event of your failing to report for duty on or before the date agreed by you, you will be required to pay one months notice pay plus other expenses incurred by us on your recruitment."----------

Now, the organization has asked me to pay one months gross salary as compensation for them.

I wanted what is the solution for me for this problem.

Should I pay the money fearing some legal complication ?

Or can I ignore till I get any kind of notice?

Thanks

To buy peace pay up or else wait if you can. Usually the companies do not file petty litigations.
