Legal Question in Employment Law in India
Hello.
I am a professionally qualified, divorced woman belonging to a minority community. I am currently engaged with a pharma concern. A few days ago, I received a call for interview from another local pharma concern. Inspite of my repeated requests, I was not provided any profile or post details. I was requested to come for an interview.
At the interview, I cleared the first round. In the second round with the CEO (who happened to be an ex-employee of my present company and hence, familiar with the staff in my current department) of the concern, it was clear that he did not like me. I left the concern with no regrets, knowing fully that I'd not be offered the post.
However, I've come to know that the CEO has provided traceable details to my department head of "a person coming for an interview who did not know anything", and my department head is making enquiries as to who it was went for the interview. Needless to say, not only my current job is in jeopardy, my future is also at stake.
Please advise:
1. Are the CEO's actions legally defensible?
2. What is the best course of action/redressal in this case? I am a divorcee and hence my job is very important to my survival. But this incident is clearly a case of unprofessional, unethical and malicious intent on the part of the CEO, and it seems unjust to let him go scot free.
I would appreciate any pointers in this regard.
Regards

It may be very difficult for you to establish a charge of "defamation" or "harm to reputation" in the given situation. therefore, it may be better to stay cool and forget the incident.
