Legal Question in Employment Law in India

Public Holiday Declaration on Polling Day

Lt. Govenor of NCT Delhi has declared polling day as a public holiday. What is the obligation of a private limited company to give holiday to its employees on the said day? Is it necessary to give this holiday to employees even if the working in the company takes place in shifts making voting possible even without the holiday? What if no such holiday is given by the employer?

Yes. In the event of the employer not declaring a particular day as a holiday he would have committed an offence under the law governing the employees i.e Shops and Establishment Act or Factories Act
