Legal Question in Employment Law in India
Hello sir,
I have a question regarding international employment law. I was working in athens, greece for 2 years as Technical architect in a company. I wanted to come back to india , so i asked company for the option to open development center for them in my city. They agreed on that and we came back and started recruiting people for the company , which is indian entity. Everybody was working from home and almost after 8 months there was no office as promised by my greek employer , so i started looking out for other opportunities. I got an offer in india from an MNC, and I resigned in my current company. Now , My greek employer is saying me that we had oral contract for 3 years and as per greek law its a valid agreement. Now , he wants me to appoint a lawyer in Greece , so that the lawyer can fight for me in Greek Court?
I have some questions
1. Is it legal to have verbal contract in Greece?
2. Even if its legal as I am an Indian , shouldn't it be done in indian court?
3. What do you suggest i should do?
Awaiting you reply.
Thanks,
Rohan

verbal contracts are neither valid in india nor in greece. you need not worry unless you want to go back to greece for your professional reasons. he cannot take any legal action here india on the basis of verbal contract in greece. however, you may duly reply his legal notice.
