Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India

We have a flat on rent since 1972, the same was transfered by the land lady to her daughter in law after her death since past 15yrs, but since due to our family condition being poor, we were not able to make payment of rent on monthly basis and now the new landlady's sons are not giving receipt of rent which we are paying of last few years-e.g we pay 5months rent in each month by cheque so that we clear the old rents faster, but they are not giving any receipt saying that its of past years and when we clear the amount till date we will give the receipt. Now last year my mother expired on whose name the flat agrement was made in 1972 (the current landlady we dont have any agrement with her, but her name has been changed in the society hence we were paying rent cheques to her).Kindly help as we are ready to pay the total rents pending as on date, and how to ask for change in rent receipt from my mothers name to us (we are 2 brothers and 2 sisters (married).

dear client...

since you are paying the rent via cheque do not worry its a valid proof of rent being paid...

send a application to the landlady to change the name from ur mother to ur self... via reg post and keep the copy for your evidence which can be used in times of need......
