Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India

Hi,

I have a House which is on a (pagdi) basis. Currently i do not stay in that house and have shifted on a rented house, close to my old house.

My wife is planning to start business in my old house in order to compensate to the rent i pay on my rented house.

The Landlord has asked us to Pay the Rent of Rs. 10,000 against rent of Rs. 200 in order to start the Business. Its very difficult to start with this huge rent.

I want to know whether if we start the business in that place, and without paying him addition rent, what legal consequences we may face?

2) What additional amount of rent legally we have to pay to landlord to start up business.

3) Any suggestion you can provide to counter this situation.

Depends upon the pagdi deed. If it is not mention that house will be used only for residence then you dont have to pay any extra money.
