Q. I have done lease deed with contractor and the contractor wants to cancel lease deed despite having the lease deed notarized. Is the contractor entitled to cancel the lease deed, please tell me ?

A. It may so happen that the very purpose for which the contractor leased your premises may have been defeated and hence the contractor may be wanting to terminate the lease deed. Notarizing the lease deed does not make the lease deed more binding on the parties. Based on the agreed terms and conditions in the lease deed for lock-in period & notice period, the contractor has to fulfill those conditions prior to terminating the lease.
