Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India

We live in a house under the pagdi system. The house was in the name of my now deceased father. Soon thereafter, my mother also died. My one sister stays with me and the other sister is abroad. In my father's wil he has willed the house to 3 of us sisters.

Now to make the rent receipt in our names landlord is asking for a huge amount. we have all rent receipts and all rent after my father's death was paid by crossed cheques from my account.

Please advise as we are unable tp pay any large sum.

If the house was not owned by your father than how can he make a will and bequeath the house to you and your sisters. That part of Will is void as the discretion of making you tenant lies with the landlord who owns the house. Any way you can negotiate with the landlord.
