Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India

My maternal grandfather was a tenant of a house since around 1940s. He passed away in 1984 and my father took over the tenancy. My mother died in 2001. My only sister got married in 2002. My father died in 2010 october. The original landlord had died in the 1990s and he had three daughters and two sons. the two sons used to collect rent from my father. When my father died, the landlords claimed lakhs of rupees to allow me to be a "tenant" with almost a lakh rupees as rent. I could not afford that. I sent money order in my name in Dec 2010, they accepted. but, from jan 2011, they refused it! I went to rent controller of Kolkata and have been giving rent there since. By profession I am a private tutor of Maths and had a tutorial. But, after my father died, I shifted my classes to my house for security of my house. Now the landlords are threatening with dire consequences if I dont pay lakhs of rupees and they are saying they will ransack my house and will throw me out as i am not a tenant, but a "tresspasser". I am getting very scared and worried. I wanted to have an electric meter (new) in my name so that I can install AC s. But, now I am confused whether to go with that as they said any drilling into the wall etc. will be illegal and they will break down any such equipments! Please help! Please also tell me what they can do (legally) to stop my tuition classes at home and about new electric meter and AC. I have also learnt that this house is still in their father's name and they are not the legal owners yet! So, what steps they can take and what should or should not I do in this case!

start depositing rent in the court and seek injunction against the land lord seeking court direction that the landlord must not vacate your without following due process of law.
